Matic Zorman is a World Press Photo award-winning photographer based in Central Europe. Born in 1986 in Slovenia, he began his career in 2008, contributing his work to daily newspapers and various magazines. He studied multimedia engineering at the Institute and Academy for Multimedia in Slovenia.
Zorman is dedicated to capturing social and humanitarian issues worldwide, starting with his first long-term project in 2010, documenting the rehabilitation of juvenile victims of the conflict in Gaza. He has since worked on assignments and produced photo essays on social issues in Luxembourg, the Balkans, Tajikistan, Lebanon, Gaza, and Egypt.
A licensed drone operator, Matic holds Open A1/A3, A2, and STS-01, STS-2 drone licenses and is equipped with a top-level drone fleet including Inspire 2 X7 and FPV drones.
In 2018, Matic relocated to Luxembourg, where he worked primarily as a portrait and event photographer for the publishing house Maison Moderne, covering clients in financial and political sectors such as the Chambre des Députés (Luxembourgish Parliament), ABBL (The Luxembourgish Banks and Banker’s Association), and ALFI (Association of Luxembourg Fund Industry).
To ensure safety in conflict zones, Matic completed RISC (Reporters Instructed in Saving Colleagues) medical battlefield training in Kosovo in 2014. In 2015, he was selected for the NOOR-Nikon Masterclass in Belgrade. His work has been recognized with numerous awards, including the World Press Photo, LensCulture, PDN, and The Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Award, and he was nominated for the Joop Swart Masterclass in 2017.
Zorman’s work has been showcased in international exhibitions at venues like the Voies Off festival in Arles, the Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam, the Neumünster Abbey in Luxembourg, and the Museum of Moscow in Russia. His clients include various NGOs, The European Commission (DEVCO), The Washington Post, Der Spiegel, The Economist, L’Express, The Independent, and others, valuing his punctuality and aesthetic approach.
